Pottery & Glass / Decorative Cookware, Dinnerware & Serveware / Jugs & Pitchers
Founded in Oklahoma in 1933, Frankoma Pottery is known for its ceramic dinnerware and sculptures. Dating Frankoma pieces is fairly simple. Look at the bottom of the piece. First, if the clay used appears to be a tan color, then it was created pre-1955 from Ada clay which was mined near the southern Oklahoma town of Ada. After 1955, most pieces were produced from the local Sapulpa red clay. It is also helpful that most Frankoma is clearly marked with the name Frankoma and/or has a number or logo on the bottom of the piece. These two pieces are in the Desert Gold color and were made with Ada clay. The pitcher is approximately 7” high and 8” wide and is marked ‘94D Frankoma’ on the bottom. The teapot is approximately 4” high (5” with the lid) and 6” wide and marked ‘94J Frankoma’. Both pieces are in excellent condition for their age. The teapot has no chips or cracks. The pitcher has a small chip on the base (see pic).
