Robert Wagoner’s rise in popularity has brought his works to collectors throughout the United States. He is a self-taught artist who not only admired, but also received encouragement from, such greats as Burt Procter and Olaf Wieghorst. Born in Marion, Ohio in 1928, Wagoner lived in upstate New York a short time before moving to Long Beach, California in 1939. After the Marine Corps, college, a musical career, and more college, he began prospecting the deserts of California and Nevada and the Four Corners Country. He began to sketch the scenes around him and in 1960 became seriously interested in fine art. Since that time he has won the Artist’s Artist Trophy (picked by fellow artists) and First Award in the Invitational Professional competition at the 1972, ’73, ’74, ’75, and ’76 Annual Death Valley 49′ers Encampment Art Show. He has been featured in Ed Ainsworth’s “The Cowboy in Art”, “Who’s Who in American Art” and numerous magazine publications. His works are in many significant collections including the Rockefeller collections. His fresh, clear technique offers a totally different look at Western art. Light is very important in a Wagoner painting. With his technique he is able to stress one area and invite the viewer to look more closely at that part of the painting. Wagoner’s lifelong affection for the West, its people, the horses and their history, is easily depicted through his exquisite treatment of colors, values and tones. A viewer is easily captivated with the mood and feelings portrayed through his picturesque settings of this country’s heritage. Wagoner’s many achievements in the western art world are not only a monument to a great artist, but to a truly great man as well. ******PRINT NO. 2002 OF 2250****** ******LIMITED EDITION PRINT****** ******SIGNED & NUMBERED****** ******BY ROBERT WAGONER****** **PRINT HOUSED IN ORIGINAL SLEEVE** ***PRINTS SOUGHT BY COLLECTORS***
