Stillwater Garage Dodge Power Wagon RARE Texaco First Gear FG 19-2638 MIB History of the Stillwater Garage Dodge
Power Wagon The Stillwater Garage was
located in Stillwater NJ. Originally a Blacksmith Shop it was later transformed
into a Service Station with two bays in front, and a Bay that could be entered
from the rear of the building that was suited for larger trucks. The Power
Wagon was in use into the late 70's as the primary wrecker for the business. In the 80's the
"Stillwater Garage" was sold to an individual who owns it to this day
and runs an antique automobile restoration service in it. The name of the
garage is now "The Old Stillwater Garage." The Power Wagon was retired
and parked in the woods of northern New Jersey in the 80's. In 1992 the son of the owner
that last ran the station in the 70's, and last used the Power Wagon as the
primary wrecker located the truck in the woods, and restored it to its original
condition as reflected by the First Gear model. The restoration of the 1948
Stillwater Garage Power Wagon was completed in June of 1997. Since completion
the truck has won many awards at many car shows, and Daimler Chrysler leased it
in 1999 to appear center stage of the Dodge Display at the annual Truck
Exposition in Detroit. The truck doesn't work hard
these days and is kept in the comfort of a garage. It does make occasional runs
to the ice cream parlor though; near it's new home in Texas. It is still owned
by the son of the last man to own "The Stillwater Garage" and will
likely be in his ownership until it comes time for his son to take over the
wheel of this powerful truck. Rare First Gear Model
