US ARMY Six Mule Wagon-Model 1858 These plans are thoroughly illustrated and contain technical measured drawings and information which is invaluable to the reenactor, collector and historian. Extensively covers all information on the model 1858 six-mule supply wagon including technical specifications. Soft Cover with spiral binding, 11 by 17 inches, 130 pages. EXAMPLE OF CONTENT: 1. The front wheels to be 3 feet 10 inches high, hubs 10 inches in diameter in center and 14 ½ inches long, hind wheels 4 feet 10 inches high, hubs 10 ¼ inches in diameter and 14 ¼ inches long; felloes 2 ½ inches wide and 2 ¾ inches deep; cast iron pipe boxes 12 inches long, 2 ½ inches at large end and 1 7/8 inches at small end; tire 2/12 inches wide by 5/8 inch thick, fastened with one screw bolt and nut in each felly; hubs made of gum, the spokes and fellies of the best white oak free from defects; each wheel to have a sand band and linchpin band 2 ¾ inches wide of No. 8 band-iron, and two driving bands - outside band 1 ¼ inch by ¼ inch thick, inside band 1 inch by 3/16 inch thick; the hind wheels to be made and boxed so that they will measure from the inside of the tire to the large end of the box 6 ½ inches, and front wheels 6 1/8 inches in a parallel line, and each axle to be three feet 11 3/8 inches from the outside of one shoulder washer to the outside of the other, so as to have the wagons all to track 5 feet from center to center of the wheels. Axletrees to be made of the best quality refined American iron, 2 ½ inches square at the shoulder, tapering down to 1 ½ inch in the middle, with a 7/8 inch king bolt hole in each axletree; washers and linchpins for each axletree; size of linchpins, 1 inch wide, 3/8 inch thick, with a hole in each end; a wooden stock 4 ¾ inches wide and 4 inches deep, fastened substantially to the axletree with clips on the ends and with two bolts six inches from the middle, and fastened to the hounds and bolster (the bolster to be 4 feet 5 inches long, 5 inches wide, and 3 ½ inches deep) with 4 half inch bolts.
